Team Boomer at the San Diego Bay Bridge Run!

Monday, May 24, 2010
There has been another sighting of Team Boomer near San Diego! This time, I ran the 24th Annual Bay Bridge Run! I was even on television! Ok, so it wasn't much. You could barely see me as a ran past the camera, but I was on tv!

I don't have much to say about the race. It was only 4 miles, which is a standard training run for me after all. I finished it in 36:57 officially, although it wasn't a chip timing, so my time was 36:07. Either way, I'm on my way to making my goal of finishing the NYC Marathon in 4 hours. It will take more training of course, but I am certain that I can continue to make strides to complete this.

That's what this is all about, of course. Raising money and running for Team Boomer is really about raising money for the fight against cystic fibrosis. I will not stop until researchers have placed the last nail in cystic fibrosis' coffin. May that day come soon!

Oh, and here are some pics of the day:
Ah...yes...that was the hill running up the bridge!
A group of Marines were running with the Marine flag (because that's what Marines do I guess). It was honestly kind of powerful running near them. I caught the flag-bearer change-out in the following three frames. I know these pictures don't really capture it, but it was powerful to watch:

And here is a pic of my beloved USS ANTIETAM in the drydock. It was kind of surreal running past her on the bridge:
For those of you who have supported me since embarking on my journey to be fit and fight cystic fibrosis, I am grateful. There are many more races to go and I'm excited to run them all! Until next time...

Looks like a fun run. If I'm ever on the left coast I'll look into it.
