I'm back home!

I try not to make this a very personal blog, although that may be changing over time, but I thought I might take the opportunity to write about my deployment over the next few weeks. I want to share a little about each of the places I went and I thought that might be a good addition to the Summer Knowledge Project. Feel free to comment as you read over them. Ask questions too! And if it won't violate any OPSEC rules, I'll happily answer!

My deployment started in January and lasted until the first week of July. Overall, I was deployed for 5.5 months. The first question you might ask is if it was less than a normal deployment. Yes. As an example, I'll tell you that my last deployment on the USS Antietam lasted 7.5 months. Most US Navy deployments last right around 6 months, so we were just under average this time around.

On this deployment, I visited seven different cities which is above average for a modern deployment. I had been to all of the locations I visited during past travels, so nothing was new for me, but this was still a very unique deployment...one that I had some great times on.

So hang around and I'll give you a hint of a US Navy deployment now that it's over.
